Report back on agenda facilitator experience from p

Process: looking at things on the agenda stack, talking to people about what could be discussed, and then send an announcement / proposed agenda just so people have time to review and prepare for the meeting

  • Doing so forced digging into infra, felt more sense of ownership which means its great to have it rotate, "information librarian for the space"
  • Harder to do it the 2nd week due to personal emergency
  • Went back to the stack and linked back to where they were discussed

Jonah or Omni (TBD) is our new Facilitator for September.

Proposals for comms

jonah: Discussed doing a temperature taking exercise "mock vote", have a few "unrealistic" proposals and then a more likely proposal.

Proposal A: Nuke everything but Signal and keep a list of public rooms. Prioritizes new people as a community space vs a club. Definitely worse than Discord/Matrix as comms infra but we are embedded deep within WB et al.

Proposal B: Signal chat is for anything that's physically happening in the space. Close #general in Matrix and turn it into working groups only.

Alternatively either Matrix or Discord.

Strongest opinion is we should not have 3 platforms.

jonah: a problem is that we don't have a voting structure

Decision: We're going to do a mock vote on comms structure proposal next week. They should be written and posted by ~Sunday.

Onboarding/Training

  • first thing people ask is "can i use wood shop?"
    • answer is "no", would be great to figure something out
    • we don't have any waiver or liability concept
  • we don't have any guidelines on when people should or can say things

We should look at university things for paperwork reference.

Will collect some university wavers ~LP
