December 14th

Jonathan, Julien, Myf, Will
# Updates
### #Woodbine's Goings On
Myf — Moved table up and down stairs. The operation was stealth.
Jonathan — What happened to the screwdirver set?? Did it get moved when the holiday people were ransacking the basement? Maybe it got moved during the espresso machine fix.
During the holiday festival, the reading comprehension group moved their activities down into the hack space. One of the partents saw the woodshop and wanted to learn how to do basic DIY stuff. The kids wanted benchies—literally any random toy stuff was the apple of their eye. Some of these kids are rapscalians, so make sure they have supervision. Resistor does not allow kids. This is all to say that people are keen to get involved when they come down here, so what kind of thing could we do, that's kind of restrictive (and so safe liability wise), so that we can do something concrete to build on this clear desire for teaching and leanring.
### #With Friends
Please do remember that it wood be nice to start building up a contribution to the With Friends. $25 a month would be a good start!
We could also just do cash donation in the jar.
*Volunteer: make a donation jar!*
This brings up the idea classes!
### #Curriculum
Start small? Just get somepeople in here?
Design a whole curriculum? Get a whole package that has a world view and a step by step process of getting into it?
There migt be something in between these two things!
Part of this might just be posing the question:
* what would you like to teach?
* what do you want to learn?
* what kind of school would you build?
* what would be a *Woodbine* curriculum?
*Volunteer — make a board to get all the possible teachers and leanrers to answer these question and collect the responces.*
# New Developments
Myf — Matt and Vanessa have been soliciting possible new inhabitants of the wood shop. One possible candidate showed up in the space. So this new tenant would be presented to the steering commitee, and Mitch would also need to weigh in. We might need to deal with dust collection solutions. The box fan could be great. Make sure people are using teh dust collection stuff that we have: a sign for dust collection.
*Volunteer: make sign "Have You Connected the Dust Collection and Turned it On?"*
### #Gym
Aven at the gym has offered to retrain the dead lifters to help prevent big roof-shacking events. This could help, but the major project of fixing the ceiling still stands.
### #Ceiling
Design a Module!
This "test panel" would be a unit that we could use to start the process of making the the ceiling both
Making a test panel involves:
* Exposing dust generating legacy arhcitectures and having a plan to seal them.
* Get new quote for the electrical; do we need to replace the entire fuse box, or could we get away with some kind of smaller adidtion, just to power the hack space and woodshop adequately.
* Get imagery: whole saw, light, camera, start mapping.
### #HVAC
Brandon has a pal who says this:
"Also, made a new friend who used to do HVAC, talked him through our ventilation stuff. He thinks that that roof fan will be good for exhaust down the corner vent, but won't have enough static pressure to actually exhaust the individual machines. So we run a like 8" or something duct from the corner duct with an inline blower, then split that into 4" ducts to each individual machine. Or, just have each machine have it's own inline blower. Two stage, basically. First stage gets from machine to the duct, and the roof fan takes care of it from there."
### #Distributed Web Conference
Myf — A conference that exists that we could a apply to. Seems to being together Web 3 and Indie Network people, so a weird mix. Could we open our space to them? Yup!
https://getdweb.net/principles/
Chaos Computer Conference wants people to do distributed mini-events that will serve as a replacement for a cancelled CCC conference. December 26th to January 1st. Could we possily hots?
People likely won't be around, cus Christmas.
CCC is traditionally in Hamburg and Liepzig on the days between Christmass and New Years. So, we should make one in New York! This could be a fun way to do a little thing in an inprotant moment of down time.
Myf and Jonathan — we're down!
Would it be practical to invite people to come to the event on December 27th and 28th? Myf is checking!
### #Open Studio Hours
Jonathan — Could we do something where we broadcast our pressence in the space. This would mean that you are doing your own work, and then people can stop by while you're working. Will and Myf — yes, could be cool, would need there to be more of a reason to be at the Hack space to do work, and that just isn't the case presently but could be. Will — yeah, we could broadcast that certain tasks will be happening, like wiring Ooza, so that people who are capable could get involved.
Action — to do this, all we would need to do would be get someone to broadcast that such an studio hour would be happening.
*Volunteer — make a thing that we can pass to the communicator who can send people to that link to presnet it. What is this? Please make Julien an admin of the Bettyboop Matrix*
### #Solar Protocol
Jonathan — Solar Protocol people are gonna be around, testing to see if they can do an install. The equipment will be here and could stay here. So the goal is to see about running the cables and attaching things to the roof.
We should Mesh the Solar nodes in Queens!
### #Meeting Management
How do we manage meetings?
Maybe we need chanels?
Goal is to welcome people, and not get them bogged down in stuff that gets people bogged down.
*Volunteer — go through the meeting notes and make a master list of existing topics. *
Then, we start a meeting with a "problem jostle."
### #Servers
The free servers are available! In January.
We would need a rack!
From the Matrix:
@room sorry for the delay. These are the machines that are being offered for donation by NYGC. Ideally we would be able to coordinate transporting them for sometime in January.
