stabilizing 3D printers
stabilizing garnet (3d printer) reduce shaking, improve prints need someone to own it? to motivate test pattern before and post-stabilization brandon's ruby (3d printer) donated by david who no longer wanted it wavy result even on ths table stabilization is it worth it? stabilizing the table? vibration/motion isolation complexity wire cable, turn buckles corner to corner to make box as rigid as possible ... rubber feet concrete base stabilizng shelving unit -> tight box put bits of neoprene on floor cut up neoprene density for absorbing movement TPU(?) putting feet under printers flexibility/rigidity combination dynema(?) rope, $0.3/foot, holds 11 lbs instead of U clamps turn buckles knots, crank, create compression light, strong expensive? in sheets rope not expensive high usage, ropes for rigging
radical honesty radical acceptance
dweb/ccc-style event
- live streamed presentation, a few new people came to the space (basement)
- including danny (BwoB), bob
- regular monthly meetups related to dweb NY/NYC?
- event phone for dweb/ccc conferences now in basement
servers +/ biotech without borders
- potentially bringing BwoB to woodbine/basement? (if anything happens)
misc
- myf | just a thought: hackerspace cross-pollination, we can consort with other spaces, regular visits to/from other spaces
- lippe | let's map out the electrical circuits
- needs wiki (hedgedoc) access
- myf | water leak, electronics equipment (VCR, battery) got soaked
- water damage in ceiling
- chloroplasts?
- cel | git hosting: gitea is becoming corporatized
- git https://git.woodbine.nyc/
- gitea https://gitea-open-letter.coding.social/
- we can upgrade to a fork: https://codeberg.org/forgejo/forgejo
- backups?
- main data cared about: wiki
- upgrades
- cel and micro may look at
- myf: git-ssb
ventilation (Lippe)
round duct work massively cheaper (1/2+) than square ductwork Home Depot & Lowes pricing 12in by 5ft tubes ~$26 distance from opening to roof about 14ft: 3 tubes to roof -> bare minimum $80 for conduit manifold to connect to fan on top ballpark ~$100 project too large or too small... motor strain 8in could be cheaper next step: fan
gym / basement ceiling
- the ceiling is falling
- do we rip some of it out?
- so much dirt ☠️
- a beam is splitting? ☠️☠️☠️
- we're all going to die? ☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️
- should we use this to support cannibalism habits?
- micro's dad might be able to take a look
- we're all going to die? ☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️
- it seems the small dumbells cause the shaking
- also, water damage and leaking
internet
- myf is running ethernet all around, lots of crimping cables
- basement network is 100% nycmesh
- wip adding a switch, more network connections
- more advanced switch vlan (un)tagging
- mesh routable ip addresses - complexity
- want 2.4ghz network for mesh AP - older devices; currently only 5ghz and ethernet
- RPi for 2.4ghz?
- investigate bandwidth fluctations; do we need a backup (verizon)?
basement homepage
- basement.woodbine.nyc home page doesn't contain useful info (Main_Page is not discoverable)
- redirect to "https://basement.woodbine.nyc/Main_Page"?
- tl;dr: basement has no face (nor discoverability)
- coordinate with main site redesign?
electronics lab + 3d printing equipment incoming
- devin got a bunch of stuff for the basement
- filament dry box, brass threaded inserts for screwing together prints
- pots, caps, resistors
- general soldering equipment
- still need air filter
- need counter high-bench, myf may build
- legs
- spare wood lying around: is jesse's
- small bench variable power supply from micro
