Bert (Hello!)
Bert lives around the corner, wrote networking code for a while. Interested in using the woodshop for personal stuff. Also interested in Mesh. Currently building a battery at home for a for-profit company. Battery for taking homes off the grid. Prototyping. Not necessarily going to be doing that here. If Bert were to bring battery stuff here, he would need a ventilation system. Ventilation of soldering.
Will - check on what we would we need to do soldering down here. Who woud know that?
Bert - my boss would potentially pay for this ventilation. Would need to spec out the projct.
[Some people in this group pay for coworking; some not, having donated certain things that were agreed on as contribution at cost. OK without formal fees and memberships, but should let the group know what you're planning to do?]
Lippe - what we need is to define the flow rate that we need. Motor power and conduit diameter needs to be organized. Do the pictures give info for assessing is power; it's draw. Myf could you please upload the photos of the fan to the signal. Or start a discord channel? (Or upload to web server or Nextcloud)
Will - design-wise, maybe we just need a second soldering station or move the soldering station back into the toxic corner.
Brandon -
- We would build a collector. Send blowers to the tube that goes to the roof. Multiplexer for air flow. We would need to remember to turn on the blower and the fan.
- We need to connect the fan in the roof to the vent shaft, and that means connect the wooden frame around the old fan, via a new duct, to the old duct. 480 volt industrial fan. Sheers and flashing to fabricate.
- Brandon, Lippe, Bert, and Will to fabricate a cowl to link the fan to the tube that goes down the ducting.
- The fan vibrates the roof. Then we need to ask if the sound level of fan is okay for the Gym. It will be quieter while its necked down, but will be loud.
- What we need is a register box. (See Signal)
- Stacked Y splitters. (See Signal)
- Fume hood is a seperate thing.
Do we have 220 or 440 up there? Check. Getting closer to a BOM and some things to check.
Steering Committee + Open Collective
Myf - First steering committee meeting since the hacker space. Seems like they want to promote us, and we got the message across that we are not totally ready to have the "public" down here.
Will - Mitch, let's go with Open Collective!
Bert - Very transparent!
Lippe - is it an entity or a software?
Bert - more of a platform.
Myf - What does this mean for the hacker space?
Devin - This means we could receive money from Myan Spring.
Lippe - How does this reduce liability? You can reduce social percpetion of liability, but someone holds liability—don't see how we can get past that. Feels like this is far in the future, at least for our needs.
Myf - these details will be dicussed in two weeks.
Will - People were excited about some kind of movement or emergence of various modules or working groups. People wanted there to be a way visualize or concretize this devlopment and get us all connected and mutually reinforcing.
Charles - DWeb Report
7 people came to a meet up. See the link! https://events.woodbine.nyc/events/90dede5f-ca37-4c99-9456-830dc82a007e https://woodbine.nyc/2023/01/dweb/ https://mobilizon.us/@dwebny
Bert, Charles, and Myf were there.
Myf - we publicized the space! People are gonna come. (Bert came to Wednesday meeting today.)
Charles - Gonna write a Thank You on Rise Up.
Devin - Errr, what is Dweb.
Myf - What is difference between DWeb and Crypto? Trying to make the world better vs making a profit. IPFS Interplanetary File System, SSB Secure Scuttlebutt, Tahoe-LAFS.
Charles - DWeb nodes are based in Cities. NY event used Mobilizon. Woodbine has a Mobilizon instance.
Will - Ooza Update
Putting more stuff in the space. Might need a new storage space. Will be mixing things.
Lippe - WATER! We could T off of one of the water paths in the back of the space. Pipes leading up to the bathrooms could be tapped. Could be a cold water pipe, right there! [Points to corner of Doom] We would need to trace back a pipe to the boiler room. Test old valves. Have some spare valves? Figure out where shut off are. Does someone know where the shutoffs are?
Devin - the elbows mean the pipe is sewage, probably.
Bert - Saw horses?
Server Update
Danny has 30 servers.
A lot of them are not "done."
Feb 10th. We need help moving. Bert can help move, has car. The cars need to be registered.
We need 3.
Brandon would take one.
Devin is gonna take one.
Biotech Without Borders is gonna take some.
DDR 3 was released 2007. Unclear what the overlap between DDR 3 and DDR 4 is.
Devin — Safire
Devin, fixing it.
Brandon, getting pi for it.
Will - Dinner
I want pizza when I make it to the space >:(
Lippe - Signage
Project board, list of contents for the space Will and DWeb might like to put something up? Corkboard; describing what happens here (is happening) Will - Woodbine itself wants this too. No one seems to know how to encapsulate and present the whole composed of these different working groups. Good design problem... poster, QR codes? Lippe - as simple or complex as we want Will wants tetrahedrons Julien wants Hexaflexigon Will has manual for them (hex) Lippe suggests Homasote (cheap corkboard)
Brandon - see you at Hack Day (Saturday)
Will and Brandon, Voron 2.4 Exchange
Will - buying printer for printer farm; project is moving along (non-profit)
